Windows 10 Threshold 2

There is a general confusion about the release of the latest upgrade of the . This much talked about update referred to elsewhere as Threshold 2, or as Fall Update, or as build 10586 or even as Windows 10 version 1511 (where 1511 means November 2015) is one that has left many question marks and especially for those who have missed episodes since there are still many friends who ask me what this Threshold is and unfortunately they don't even know what it is... Windows 10 Threshold 2

Let's see very briefly and clearly what we know about this upgrading and let our friends know:

What is the difference between Windows Updates - Threshold 2?

First of all, this upgrade has nothing to do with known Updates as we knew it because with the advent of Windows 10 they are now every second third (Patch Tuesday) every month. These updates are designed to close any security holes discovered and improve the code for better security and overall system performance.

That is, Threshold 2 is not a series of downloaded updates;

It's not just jumbled updates it's more than just…
Microsoft claims that such big upgrades like this will only offer 2 with 3 times a year, and this is the first major upgrade after Windows 10 release this summer.
The process can be done from the Windows Update automatic system but Threshold 2 is considered Upgrade.

What does Upgrade mean?

An upgrade is considered a major upgrade that changes critical parts of an operating system's code and adds new ones and features that did not exist greatly affecting performance.

In the Linux operating system for example if you have 13 and the version ubuntu 14 is released with the command “do-release-upgrade” it is upgraded (without formatting and reinstalling the operating system) from 13 to ubuntu 14.

So Threshold 2 generally improves user experience and upgrades Windows 10 from 10240 to 10586. Microsoft claims that the 10586 version is 30% faster than Windows 7 with the test on the same machine.

How do I know what version of windows I wear?

By pressing Win + R on the console you type in the winver field and press Enter to see what version of windows you are running. If you have the 10240s at some point your turn won't panic, upgrading may be delayed (because it downloads files in the background) but always after that "stealth" download appears as an option.

For those of you who recently had windows 7 or .1 and you went to windows 10 you should wait 31 days from the day of the upgrade because Microsoft gives this window of time to go back to your old windows in case you didn't like the experience of Windows 10.

When will the next big upgrade come?

The next big upgrade is rumored to have a code name Redstone and will be released in the middle of 2016. Until then, however, those who are windows insiders will get first taste if you are, of course, registered in the fast ring, first by testing the changes and improvements of major upgrades.
