Surprise from Windows XP: The latest statistics on market share in operating systems from NetMarketShare reveal a very spectacular rise last month.
Windows XP, the operating system that started about 16 years ago and no longer receives updates since April of 2014, improved their market share by 1,28%, although they all advise users not to use them.
Windows XP was one of the goals of WannaCry ransomware launched in May, and Microsoft decided to publish an update emergency to protect the users of the ancient operating system.
In conclusion, it turned out that the Windows 7 was much more vulnerable from Windows XP to attacks with WannaCry. But everything shows that despite all the dangers involved in clinging to an 16e operating system, users are not interested in making any upgrades.
Data released by NetMarketShare reveals that Windows XP improved its share from 5,66% to 6,94% last month, making it the third most used PC operating system worldwide, behind Windows 7 and Windows 10.
Windows 8,1 was very close to a percentage of 6,40%.
The most amazing thing is that Windows XP has been down for quite a few months quite normal as they are no longer supported by Microsoft. For example, in August of 2016, Windows XP was running on 9,36% of computers around the world. In May the percentage dropped from 7,04% to 5,66%.
No doubt, it will take more than expected for Windows XP to disappear from the market, despite Microsoft's warnings.
Maybe Microsoft can finally read it message (αν δεν το έχει διαβάσει ακόμα) πως υπάρχει ένα μεγάλο ποσοστό στην αγορά που ενδιαφέρεται περισσότερο για την protection of his privacy, despite the new features of Windows 10.
