Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi admits promoting 'discreet' advertisements via MIUI at Android. The MIUI application is available on almost all company phones.
The company announced through The Verge:
Advertising has been and will continue to be an integral part of Xiaomi's Internet services, and a key element of the company's business model. At the same time, we support the user experience by offering options to turn off ads, constantly improving our approach to ads. Our philosophy is that ads should be discreet and users should always be able to see less.
In recent days, many Xiaomi device users at Reddit and Twitter reported the appearance of many ads in MIUI apps. Ads even appear in the settings menu.
The company of course provides the option to turn off ads, but many users report that they continue to appear even after they are turned off.
Many of them try to get rid of the ads by removing the Adsense System (MSA) application of MIUI, but it is not known if this tweak solves the problem.
It should be noted that Xiaomi is not the only company that promotes ads on its devices. THE Amazon sells phones at a low cost because they show ads, and Samsung shows ads through push notifications.
