A hacker allegedly sells 200 million user Yahoo data to Dark Web and Yahoo knows it.
The 'Peace' hacker is known for his leaks of high-profile sites such as MySpace and LinkedIn. So this time there are 200 million Yahoo accounts available for sale on the Dark Web's The Real Deal marketplace.
In an email to Motherboard, Yahoo stated that "we are aware of the situation…"
The following is the canned text used by all pages that have been hacked from time to time by hackers:
"We are committed to protecting the security of our users' information and we take any such claim very seriously. Our security team is working to identify issues that exist. "Yahoo works hard to keep its users safe, and we always encourage our users to create strong passwords, or use the Yahoo Account Key, and use different passwords for different platforms."
Motherboard claims the data includes dates of birth, usernames, passwords and in some cases their backups emails of accounts.
Hacker 'Peace' claims the data is from "2012 probably," and asks for 3 Bitcoins (about $1.800) to provide the base data available.
The Motherboard tasted dozens of Yahoo user names and found that most of them are active, although email addresses are inactive.
However, if you continue to use the company as your email service, it is a good idea to change your password immediately.
