Η Yamaha surprised us today with a humanoid robot who can drive one of her racing motorcycles.
Presented at 44th Tokyo Motor Show today 28 Oct 2015. The Yamaha Motobot is a robot driving a normal motorcycle and specifically R1M 1000cc. In the video you will see that it changes gears, shakes the throttle and the clutch like a man.
A short press release describes the robot as part of Yamaha's research and development, and the company wants to be able to drive itname a motorcycle with the speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
But what will Motobot be used for after the research is over? Probably for company marketing, but the team says it has a purpose with it construction of the humanoid to learn more about “advanced rider and passenger safety systems”.
