The Youtube is intended to remove video editing tools that are not widely used by its users. The cutoff date appears to be September 20, 2017.
Unless you are a frantic user YouTube, you may not be aware that the popular website has a video editor and photo slideshow for editing your videos in its tools. And maybe you're learning it a bit late, after Youtube decided to abolish them. If you have already tried it and you are in the middle of editing your video, you will have to finish it and publish it by 20 September, as says Google on the YouTube support page.
The likely reason these tools are being phased out is of course because they are not in demand, and this is because the whole process is extremely slow compared to editing your video locally on your computer with your own programs. Editing via Youtube requires you to upload your video, edit it and download the final one copy. That said, as a concept it was a good choice for Chromebook users or kids with low-powered laptops or tablets.
However, Google points out that there are many available free and paid third-party processing tools. In other words, the app was useful as a way for YouTube to attract customers when it came in 2010. But with so many apps out there, it's no longer worth the resources.
