Microsoft does not mention more details, but rumors say it will spend a total of 250 million dollars to buy SwiftKey.
Harry Shum, Executive Vice President of Technology and researchs, said that all of the company's employees would join Microsoft in an effort to merge the two keyboard apps and create one that could work seamlessly across all devices.
"This acquisition is an excellent example of Microsoft's commitment to making software and services on all platforms. We will continue to lead the development of the SwiftKey keyboard for Android and iOS, as well as explore scenarios for integrating its core technology across the breadth of our products and services,” Shum explains.
"Furthermore, SwiftKey's intelligent technology aligns with Microsoft's investment and ambition to develop intelligent systems that can work harder for account of the user who has absolute control over them.”
