Google reports that it will automatically scan apps from the Play Store installed on your phone to make sure there is no malware.
Applications with indications or suspicions of malicious operations may be blocked or completely removed from the device you.
The service was announced for the first time in May, but is already becoming widely available.
Play Protect uses mechanical learning, and can detect new attacks that have just begun to run (yes even zero-day).
However, if you use apps from other Stores outside of it Google Play, you are still at risk of being hit by a virus.
