The new version 10.4 of the Debian "Buster" distribution has just been released and is available to anyone interested. Those of you who are already using version 10 of the distribution do not need to download an ISO, since with a simple update you will upgrade your system,
The following ISOs are decompressed for those who want to perform a clean installation of the distribution to the latest version, so they don't have to update their system from scratch afterwards.
As in any update a fixed version of Debian, this new version comes with minor improvements, but most importantly, the security fixes they contain.
"This version of points mainly adds corrections for security issues, as well as some adjustments for serious problems. "Security tips have already been published separately and listed where available," explains the Debian project.
"Note that the point version is not a new version of Debian 10 but only updates some of the packages included."
A specific security bug fixed in this new release concerns the libssh package. According to the developers, versions of the libssh package prior to 0.8.9 and 0.9.4 are affected by a security vulnerability that causes clients or servers terminating a connection if it was not fully finalized and the system was trying to clear ciphers during duration of the connection.
The new Debian release also removes some packages, such as getlive and gplaycl, which are no longer needed due to changes in Hotmail and Google API, respectively. The yahoo2mbox package has also been deprecated after not working for several years.
