The WHO intends to launch a contact detection application for covid-19 that will be offered to those countries that can not create their own.
Many countries that have been affected by covid-19 and have the resources to create a tracking app will be able to use the corresponding app that the World Health Organisation (WHERE).
WHO's Bernardo Mariano told interview with Reuters, that they plan to release a Covid-19 symptom assessment application in May. Any government could release a customized version of the application, but the actual release will help those countries that have no relevant application.
The organization is also considering the procase contact tracing and has talked to Apple and Google about it use of monitoring technology. Legal and privacy issues have so far prevented the WHO from accessing this software. Apple and Google have promised to offer a decentralized system that will keep data anonymous, but there are still concerns that companies may misuse the data to make a profit later.
Of course even a simple, basic application that would analyze the symptoms could prove vital. A globally available WHO app could better inform those who do not know what to expect from the coronavirus and encourage more people to take precautions.
Contact tracing, too, can be vital to society after one lockdown, as it could more accurately track the spread of the virus and help contain it.
