Firefox 84 December 2020 ends Flash

Say goodbye to Flash with Firefox 84: All major browser developers plan to remove Flash support from their browsers by 2020.

Adobe announced the removal of Adobe Flash in 2017. Then several such as Google, Microsoft and Mozilla in turn announced that they planned to end support for the technology in their browsers.

Finally… We are talking about the most vulnerable application ever released….

Adobe Flash will no longer receive security updates from 2021 onwards.

Firefox 84 December 2020 ends Flash

Ο Firefox χρησιμοποιεί ένα addon για να ενσωματώσει το Adobe Flash, το οποίο είναι εγκατεστημένο στο σύστημα, και στο πρόγραμμα περιήγησης. Ο Google και άλλα προγράμματα περιήγησης που βασίζονται στο use built-in Flash support.

Currently Flash in Firefox is disabled by default, but those who want can enable it if required by some websites. Flash is the only NPAPI plugin that Firefox still supports. Support for other NPAPI-based plug-ins such as Microsoft , has been abandoned since Firefox 52, which was released in March 2017.

Mozilla today unveiled the version of Firefox and the month that will completely remove Flash from Firefox. According to the program, Flash will be removed in Firefox 84 Stable, a version that will be released in December 2020. Flash support will be removed earlier than the dev versions. From Firefox Nightly for example, it will be removed in October 2020.

Of course there is always the possibility that these plans will change, due to unbalanced factors. It seems a bit unlikely though, as Adobe will not release any other security updates for Flash in 2021.

Google plans to stop supporting Flash from Chromium in January 2021 with the release of Chrome 88. The change will affect all other Chromium-based web browsers.
