While the internet was full of supporters of the release of Barrett Brown who expressed it through Twitter and more generally through the Social Networks during the duration of the latter two years ago, the court took a different view.
Today Barrett Brown was sentenced to five years and three months imprisonment for impediment to justice, assistance and synergy to threats against an FBI agent.
The charges stem from the Stratfor hack case that took place in 2011. Brown allegedly did not participate in the hack, but copied and pasted a URL that led to data that were stolen from one chatroom to another.
The data included email addresses and credit card numbers.
