Η LG Electronics (LG) continues to raise the level of the car connectivity market following the recent agreement to provide 5G telematics solutions to a premium European car industry.

According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, by 2026 approximately 67 million new vehicles worldwide will be equipped with telematics capabilities. The 5G technology telecommunication modules introduced just last year are expected to account for more than 25 percent of the total telematics vehicle market by 2026. Faster, more stable communication means vehicles can recognize and respond to a variety of road conditions and driving situations instantly, while high-precision positioning technology known as Advanced Global enviroment Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), can pinpoint a vehicle's exact location within 40cm, even when traveling at high speeds.
Using Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) technology, LG's solutions simultaneously support connected car and autonomous driving functions, allowing vehicle occupants to enjoy services entertainment, useful functions and increased security.
The standard of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 16 5G technology has significantly improved performance and more reliable connections. In addition, the smart, flat antenna allows automakers to maintain the aerodynamic lines of their original designs, something that would be impossible with traditional shark fin antennas.
