A smartphone can become smarterphone

Researchers at the University Purdue of the United States, are trying to make them smartphones, capable of recognizing and understanding objects in the field of view of the built-in camera.

The research focuses on the ability called deep learning, deep learning we could say in free , καθώς χρησιμοποιούνται διαφορετικά στρώματα μάθησης που μιμούνται τον τρόπο επεξ of information from the human brain.

The same χρησιμοποιείται στο λογισμικό που επιτρέπει στις μηχανές to locate images and video files, which have been tagged with some keywords. However, that deep learning algorithm cannot be transferred directly to mobile devices, as they do not have the necessary processing power.

So, the they made the necessary modifications to develop the software that would allow them to use the algorithm from the processor of a conventional smartphone. The newly developed deep learning capability gives mobile devices an upgrade that reaches the limits of artificial intelligence, according to researchers.

The new, customized, deep learning technique for mobile devices also works on "successive" levels. Researchers at Purdue University believe that the full development of this technology is essentially a matter of time, and perhaps it will not be too late to integrate into commercially available smartphones and wearables.

Research results could be used in applications such as Google Glass, face recognition systems, or even in robotic self-propelled vehicles.

The research program is the result of a partnership between the US Maritime Research Bureau, the American National Research Foundation and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
