The acquisition of the satellite company Skybox Imaging instead of 500 million dollars Google is moving ahead.
As stated in a Skybox Imaging announcement, "five years ago we started the trip για να φέρουμε επανάσταση στην πρόσβαση σε information about the changes taking place in surface land".
"We built and launched the smallest high-resolution capture satellite that collects beautiful and useful images and videos every day. We've built an incredible team and helped them to push state of the art imaging to new heights. It is a good time to join forces with a company that can make us think even more grandiose and bold and that can support us in our ambitious vision. "
As noted in the announcement, however, the agreement has not yet been fully "closed", so in the short term, Skybox will continue to function properly.
According to Google, the company's satellites will provide images for its online map service while Skybox technology will also be used to provide Internet access and disaster response services.
It is recalled that in April Google had also acquired Titan Aerospace Logistics, a solar-powered drone company known for its design for balloon networks that provide wireless Internet access to remote areas. Facebook is also making similar moves, as the big goal now seems to be the Internet coverage of isolated/developing areas.
