The adult site Adult Friend Finder is intended for people looking for casual sex and has a subscriber base of tens of millions of users around the world. The company allegedly did not know the incident.
The company issued a statement today stating that "it has just been informed of a possible security issue and leak of its data" and that it is currently making efforts to understand the full extent of the incident.
Authorities are already involved in the investigation and MANDIANT experts have been called in by FireEye to assess the damage, and provide countermeasures and measures to prevention similar events in the future.
The people affected by the leak reach 3.900.000, according to Britain's Channel 4 News. Leaked email addresses, addresses, names, dates of birth, zip codes, sexual preferences, gender, and the IPs of computers of users. All data exists online through the anonymous Tor network.
It seems that the incident happened before 13 in April as reported in a publication by the researcher of Drak Web, Bev Robb, who did not name Adult Friend Finder as the target, but said the information was sent by a hacker, who uses the nickname ROR [RG].
Currently, the database's database information is still online as confirmed by security researcher Troy Hunt. A tweet stated that the data contains 3.867.997 unique email addresses, and that some of these belong to deleted accounts.
