Open Letter against Artificial Intelligence (AI)

"The end point of this technological trajectory is obvious: autonomous weapons will become the Kalashnikovs of tomorrow. The key question for humanity today is whether or not to launch a global AI (Artificial Intelligence) armaments race. "

Ο , Professor Stephen Hawking along with 1000 other researchers sign today's open letter of warning on autonomous weapons.you have Autonomous weapons

They are right;

The inoculation of today's weapon systems with artificial intelligence is coming. Experiments with neural networks and other AI constructs are already producing incredible results. Companies such as and , άντλησαν τεράστια ποσά πόρων για την on the specific object. The secret services and the military of course do exactly the same.

Ο Phillip Killicoat in a document to the World Bank [pdf], published in 2007, estimated that there were 500 million firearms around the world 2004, of which about 100 million were descendants of Kalashnikov. Three quarters of these were AK-47.

The first easy-to-play AI weapon will spread just like the widely spread Kalashnikov and will be even more devastating.

Scientists report:

"Just as most chemists and biologists are not interested in making chemical or biological weapons, most AI researchers are not at all interested in creating AI weapons - and they do not want to tarnish their field in this way, possibly creating a significant public reaction against artificial intelligence that will limit it in the future. Indeed, chemists and biologists have largely supported international agreements that have successfully banned chemical and biological weapons, just as most physicists have argued for a ban on space nuclear weapons and laser dazzling weapons.

In conclusion, we believe that Artificial Intelligence has great potential and can benefit humanity in many ways. "Starting a military artificial intelligence equipment race is a bad idea, and it should stop with the ban on offensive autonomous weapons."

This open letter was officially announced at the opening of the IJCAI 2015 conference today July 28.
