#AleppoIsBurning: A boycott on Facebook for Aleppo

Thousands of social media users and more on Facebook are changing their profile photos in red in an attempt to draw public attention to a Syrian government attack on Aleppo.

The hashtags #MakeFacebookRed and #AleppoIsBurning are used to refer to the ongoing attack, which has killed more than 240 over the past week and forced many families to flee.

The public blames Facebook for not implementing it Safety Check, να tool used in the aftermath of major natural or man-made disasters such as the recent attacks in Paris and Brussels. The online tool allows users to let their friends know they are safe.
