Microsoft has launched the new Windows 10 Edge browser with great drumming, featuring the application as a modern firefighter of Firefox and Google Chrome, which can eventually replace Internet Explorer and win the hearts of users around the world .
On paper, the Edge it is indeed a very attractive program browsing, but in reality, it lacks enough basic features and obviously needs a lot of improvements on desktops and tablets as well. Some, of course, according to the company, are expected to be released soon.
But right now, Edge does not seem to be the preferred option for those who install Windows 10 and browse on a daily basis on the internet, as the new browser did not see numbers in August 2015 statistics.
Data provided by the market analyst firm StatCounter show that in August 2015 Google Chrome 44 was the number one browser with a market share of 44,48%.
Internet Explorer 11 was second with 10,89%, followed by Firefox 39 with 7,45%. Here are several other versions of IE, Chrome and Firefox, but Microsoft Edge is not included in these stats.
The last entry in the chart is Firefox 38 with 0,94 percent, which probably means that Edge is below this score and is included only in the category "Others" which has a total market share of 15,89%.
Although it is difficult to tell whether these figures are inaccurate or not, it is quite clear that at present, Microsoft Edge is not really as powerful as Redmond claims.
It basically lacks a number of features already available in other competing apps, but Microsoft has promised to improve it significantly in future updates. This will likely be done in the October fix pack that Microsoft will bring support for extensions στον Εdge, φέρνοντας έτσι το πρόγραμμα περιήγησης, στα επίπεδα των Chrome, Firefox, Opera, τα οποία προσφέρουν ήδη τέτοιες functions.
Time will tell if Edge has the chance to succeed and climb over Internet Explorer, but for now, it is pretty clear that Microsoft still has a lot of work to do in this area.
