Android 14 developer preview 1

Google was released the first developer preview ( preview) of Android 14 and allows us to see the next version of the operating system. It comes with a fresh new logo that seems to be inspired by NASA space missions.

Android 14 will focus on optimizing background processing to ensure optimal resource consumption and improved battery life.Android 14

The new version of the operating system is built with tablets and foldables in mind . Google says that Android 14 "builds on the work done in Android 12L and Android 13 to support tablets and foldable devices", which means we can expect several optimizations for large-screen devices.

Security is an important factor of every new Android version and version 14 will prevent installation/sideloading of old apps for older versions of the OS. To be more specific – Android 14 will not allow you to install apps with targetSdkVersion lower than level 23 corresponding to Android 6.

Android 14 will be equipped with a new feature called non-linear font scaling. Users will be able to scale system fonts to 200%, and the OS will also apply the custom scaling to smaller sub-menu text elements as well.

Android 14 2 is scheduled for release in March, and Google will continue to release new developer builds every month until July

Android 14 DP 1 can be installed on Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G devices.

You can download the new OS from the official Android developer portal .
