The program Android Silver seems to be the big shift that Google is going to make in its strategy on smartphone production.
According to a report by "The Information" Google is reportedly planning to retire the Nexus series devices and replace them with the Android Silver series, which will consist of Appliances high performance.
The venture appears to be both bold and expensive as Google reportedly plans to aggressively promote the new devices, both to resellers and to the consumer public, through intense advertisings.
At the same time, the company is reportedly planning to "subsidize" manufacturers, by funding the development of the devices and at the same time taking the cost of the marketing plan.
In return, Google reportedly ensures greater control over the devices' software. In addition, it is expected to exercise greater control over the which will be offered pre-installed by the manufacturers (bloatware), while additionally providing more reliable upgrades of the Android operating system, to the devices of the Silver series.
The first Android Silver devices are expected to appear next year, with LG and Motorola being the first-ever makers. Other manufacturers, such as Samsung, HTC, and Sony, who have released "Google Play" versions of their devices, may follow.
As a first step, the Android Silver program is expected to be implemented in the United States and some more "developed" markets, with indoor Android kiosks within stores where demonstration of Android's functionalities will be demonstrated.
Finally, it should be noted that the press releases do not talk about the fate of the Nexus range and much less the answer to the question is how to fill the gap that will be created on mid-range devices, as the Android Silver series will be characterized as high-end.
