Imitations in the world of technology are normal, even expected, but at duration of Apple's Developers Conference on Monday, Tim Cook and his company were probably disappointed.
The company did not seem to show any catch-up, something we have not seen before by Apple's opponents, and in some cases, there have been years in other operating systems.
To this day Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has been established in the minds of the consumer, as a pioneering company that creates totally new things. For example, on the reign of Jobs, he created the smartphone with the mp3 player, which has made them very much in the eyes of the buying audience. This year, however, it did not look like a major upgrade of applications and services.
Everything was copies.
This does not mean Apple does not have many original ideas worth stealing someone, but it does WWDC 2015 did not add anything to the showcase of innovation that makes the company stand out.
Instead the company followed the imitation, which it blamed so much until today. At some point, it seems that Apple realized that Google is planning the future of mobile with the interactions in our gadgets, through related applications, deep linking and multitasking. Apple was behind in all opinions.
The bigger, and the brightest "I have too" from Apple's presentation on Monday that we passed was the feature "Proactive, "Which for the most part is a clone of it Google Now. Indeed, Proactive is nothing more than a shadow of Google Now, especially now that Google has announced the new feature Now on Tap.
Αλλά οι ομοιότητες μεταξύ των δύο εφαρμογών είναι αρκετά εμφανείς. Το Proactive είναι αριστερά στην αρχική οθόνη, ακριβώς όπως το Google Now για Appliances Nexus. It searches with deep links within applications that exist on your smartphone, just like Google Now.
Even as Apple tried to hit Google below the belt for irregularities in the protection of privacy (something like the well-known "We don't keep your data unlike others"), simply acknowledged that "yes, we know, this has been done before" or "yes, we know, this has been done before."
The game of catch-up doesn't stop there. Apple promoted the new Apple Maps, adding transit directions to the main app, the options to connect to third-party apps like HopStop. This, of course, is something that the application Google Maps he has been doing it for years and today he can even do it with almost frightening accuracy.
And what about this multitasking feature that Apple says adds to the iPads to split screens on 1 / 2 or 2 / 3?
Well, Android's most popular skin, Samsung's TouchWiz, has been embedded in the OS for a while, not to mention that it is a rip from the multitasking that Microsoft uses in Windows 8.
Then, beyond Google and Microsoft, Spotify, the Flipboard, and Feedly are all what Apple has shown.
To be fair, it is likely that 2016 can see big changes on mobile and desktop from Apple. More original ideas that made Apple the trillions of dollars it is today.
This year, however, the company disappointed.
