More in detail, the first belongs to Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and the various iPad models, of which the US company handed out 16,4 million, holding a market share of 32,5%. These performances are lower than last year's when Apple delivered 19,5 millions of tablets with a share of 40,2%, ie it showed a drop of 16,1%.

The second place is followed by Korean Samsung, with a market share reaching 22,3% representing 11,2 deliveries of millions of devices. The increase in Samsung's market share reaches 32%, since the 2013 quarter of the company had delivered 8,5 million tablets and had a share of 17,5%.

In third place is Asus with a market share of 5% (2,5 million devices), followed by (4.1% και 2,1 εκατ. συσκευές) και την with a share of 1,9% (1 million devices). Overall, 2014 million tablet devices were shipped in the first quarter of 50,4, compared to 48,6 million in the first quarter of 2013.

The market was only up 3,9%, as Apple's share loss was matched by the share gains of companies promoting devices with OS, according to IDC. .

The reason for the drop in Apple's share, despite the first, is the continued and intense competition from a variety of manufacturers, small and large. In contrast, Apple recorded impressive performance in the immediately preceding quarter, which of course included the Christmas season.

Overall, IDC notes that the data shows that the slowdown in growth rates seen in the previous quarter continued in the first quarter of 2014, indicating that the relevant market is beginning to mature.

Finally, IDC's report points out that the struggle for manufacturers to "win" a customer will become even stronger at 2014. Also, the steady increase in demand for cheaper tablets with more technical features may lead some of the manufacturers out of the market.
