The European Commission is launching an "in-depth" investigation into the acquisition of Shazam music recognition application by Apple. The European Commission's main concern is that the Shazam application will give Apple access to sensitive commercial data that it can use to impose itself on its competitors in the European Economic Area.
With this information, the European Commission states that Apple could directly target customers of its competitors Shazam application and take them to her Apple Music service.
"As a result, other music streaming services could be at a competitive disadvantage," according to EU press release.
Meanwhile, the Commission is also considering whether Apple Music competitors will be harmed if the Shazam application directs its users to Apple, and not to Apple's competitors such as Spotify and Deezer.
The Commission has called for a deadline until September 4 to investigate the above concerns.
Apple has announced the acquisition of Shazam, a United Kingdom-based company in December.
The agreement exmarket of course it serves many purposes for Apple beyond everything we mentioned above with Apple Music.
Shazam has one team που είναι εξειδικευμένη σε models training, algorithm development and data management. With Shazam's expertise in the use of data, we will see many applications of new technologies that serve Apple, such as a possible enhancement of the digital assistant Siri.
