BackBox Linux is a distribution based on the well-known Ubuntu operating system and is used for security assessments and penetration tests. The developers of the project have just released a new stable version, BackBox Linux 8.
The new version upgrades key components of the distribution and fixes many bugs from the previous version. The latest release of the BackBox 8 distribution is based on the long-term support Ubuntu 22.04 release. The distribution now features Linux kernel version 5.15 and Xfce version 4.16.0 as DE.
"The BackBox team is pleased to announce the major new release of BackBox Linux, version 8. As usual, this major release includes many updates, such as a new kernel, updated tools, and some structural changes with an emphasis on maintaining stability and compatibility with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
What's new: updated Linux kernel 5.15, updated desktop environment, updated hacking tools, updated hybrid ISO images with UEFI support
System requirements: 32 or 64 bit processor, 1.024MB system memory (RAM memory) 10GB space on the installation disk, a graphics card with a resolution of 800x600, unit DVD-ROM or USB port (3GB). ISO images for 32-bit and 64-bit processors can be downloaded from the official download site.”
