Bitly announced that her systems were hacked by hackers

The popular URL shortener service, bitly announced that its systems were hacked by hackers.

bitly

Users who will go to the service's website to log in to their account will see a warning at the top of the page indicating:
bitly

Η beyond this specific, laconic statement he has not given further details.

If you visit the address bit.ly/SecurityDetails you will only see the text below that will detail details.

“We have reason to believe that the credentials of Vitly's accounts have been leaked. We have no clue at this time as to who have been leaked. To protect our users we have taken proactive measures to ensure the security of all accounts. So we disconnected all the accounts that were using Vitly, on Facebook and Twitter. All users can re-login with new passwords to secure their accounts.”

The above announcement seems to lack enough information. What information is stolen? If someone was logged in with a Facebook or Twitter account, are their accounts in danger?

What if someone was using the API of the service? For all this and for many others, Bitly does not give any answer.

In any case, if you use the service, change passwords immediately and don't leave it to chance.
