On Tuesday, Facebook announced that it would start showing ads on browsers, even those "using ad-blocking software."
Adblock Plus, is the most popular ad blocking tool with over 500 million downloads.
Two days later, Adblock Plus says it has a solution that users can implement on their own. He also stated that in one to two days it will be added to the application code.
The solution consists of a new filter added to EasyList.
Below is the code you should add if you don't want to wait for the next one information:
facebook.com ## DIV [id ^ = "substream_"] ._5jmm [data-dedupekey] [data-cursor] [data-xt] [data-xt-vimpr = "1" ] [date-fte = "1"]
The instructions for updating your filters are different depending on your browser:
In Firefox:
Select Firefox – Add-ons (for Mac OS X/Linux, select “Tools” from the line menu – “Add-Ons”). This will open Firefox's Add-on manager.
Click on "Extensions", find Adblock Plus and go to "Options." Then click on "Filter Preferences…".
Press Ctrl+Shift+T or right click on a record and select “update filters”.
In Chrome:
Click the Chrome menu button, then go to "Tools" and select "Extensions".
Find Adblock Plus and click on "Options"
Click the "Update Now" button.
In Opera:
Click the “Menu” (για Mac OS X/Linux στο “Εργαλεία”), επιλέξτε “Επεκτάσεις” και “Διαχείριση Επεκτάσεων”.
Find Adblock Plus Click on the small icon on the right and select "Preferences".
Click the "Update Now" button.
Of course, as Adblock Plus says, Facebook could bypass this solution at any time. And of course do not expect Facebook to give up so easily its efforts.
