On Tuesday, Facebook announced that it will start showing ads in programs tourς ακόμα και σε αυτούς “που χρησιμοποιούν software ad blocking.”
Adblock Plus, is the most popular ad blocking tool with over 500 million downloads.
Two days later, Adblock Plus reports that it has a solution that users can implement themselves. She also stated that in a day or two it will be added to her code applications.
The solution consists of a new filter added to EasyList.
Below is the code you should add if you do not want to wait for the next update:
facebook.com ## DIV [id ^ = "substream_"] ._5jmm [data-dedupekey] [data-cursor] [data-xt] [data-xt-vimpr = "1" ] [date-fte = "1"]
The instructions for updating your filters are different depending on your browser:
In Firefox:
Επιλέξτε Firefox – Add-ons (για Mac OS X/Linux, επιλέξτε “Εργαλεία” από τη γραμμή του μενού – “Add-Ons”). Αυτό θα ανοίξει στον Firefox τον Add-on manager.
Click on "Extensions", find Adblock Plus and go to "Options." Then click on "Filter Preferences…".
Press Ctrl + Shift + T or right-click on a record and select "update filters".
On Chrome:
Click the Chrome menu button, then go to "Tools" and select "Extensions".
Find Adblock Plus and click on "Options"
Click the "Update Now" button.
In Opera:
Click the "Menu" button (for Mac OS X / Linux in "Tools"), select "Extensions" and "Extensions Manager".
Find Adblock Plus Click on the small icon on the right and select "Preferences".
Click the "Update Now" button.
Of course, as Adblock Plus says, Facebook could bypass this solution at any time. And of course do not expect Facebook to give up so easily its efforts.
