Whenever you receive a message on Facebook and read it, a notification appears in the sender's chat box saying that you have seen the message. It says “Read”, followed by the time your message appeared on the webσελίδα of Facebook or through one of its applications Facebook.

Mobile Devices

The Privy Chat for facebook is an Android application that provides you with options to read Facebook messages, without being marked as read there so the sender will not see "Read."
The unread is a program for Apple iOS. It has the same functionality and so you can read your messages without revealing to the sender that you have read them.
Exclude proofs of reading by hand
If you use the adblocker extension or another extension that supports custom filters, you can block the URL facebook.com/ajax/mercury/change_read_status.php used by the social network to send proof of reading.
