Bullying in Greece

The phenomenon of bullying has reached great proportions in Greek schools, as more than 1 in 10 students have been victims of bullying, vulgar language and promotion on the Internet.

Medicines for appearance, obscene gestures, spreading malicious rumors for the purpose of publicity, but also threats through , make up the so-called bullying, of which approximately 10-15% of Greek students, children and teenagers have fallen victim, reports Kathimerini in a publication.

Indeed, the University Research Institute for Mental Health reports that 8,5% of adolescents say they are intimidated at least two to three times a month, while at a rate of 15,8% they admit that they are bullying. In a similar 2002 survey, the percentage of those who claimed to be intimidating others did not exceed 9,1%.

From a large survey of the "Smile of the Child", in the context of a pan-European campaign, it emerged that approximately 32% of students have been the victim of bullying at least once (34,2% boys, 29,71% a), while 30,2% have at some point been perpetrators of such incidents.

• Use deceptive names: 60,69%
• Pushes and knocks: 45,39%
• External effects: 36,3%
• Posting degraded photos over the Internet: 14,26%
• Dissemination of such mobile photos: 12,82%
