Its users Yahoo Mail should be on alert as email messages have been reported informing them that they have been infected with DSVX. False notifications are part of a new phishing campaign.
A sample of these emails was posted by millersmiles.co.uk. The messages are entitled "DSVX Virus Detected in Your Yahoo Mail Account" and state:
"We detected a dsvx virus in your Yahoo! Mail So it's time to update the classic Yahoo! Mail to the new form before you lose access to your email. Your e-mail service will not be affected and you will be able to keep all your old contacts, folders and messages. ”
There are some attachments that are supposed to be malware as they are called "dsvx", but they have nothing to do with the virus. The trick is used to scare unsuspecting users and get them to click on the link contained in the email that is supposed to save them from disaster.
When someone clicks on the link, they are taken to a σελίδα phishing του Yahoο Mail. Η ψεύτικη σελίδα σύνδεσης αναπαράγει την real Yahoo Mail login page.
However, when users enter Yahoo! Their ID, the code access them and press "Login", the information is transmitted to a server controlled by the cybercriminals. To be the scam even more believable, after the supposed connection they redirect their victims to the real Yahoo Mail page.
The phishing site is hosted on a subdomain of altervista.org and is there for at least 24 hours.
