CentOS Linux 7.4.1708: The CentOS operating system is developed by a community of open source contributors. Typically the users of CentOS are companies and individuals who do not need strong commercial support for their operating system.
CentOS is a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 100% Compatible Rebuild that fully complies with Red Hat's distribution requirements. CentOS is for those who need stability in a business-class operating system without the cost of certification and support.
From 2014, Red Hat funds CentOS, allowing the development team to maintain its open-source character.
CentOS 7 is a great choice for home use, even on a laptop computer which is not Linux friendly. It will work flawlessly despite the challenges. Addressing the challenges is also the downside of CentOS, as it lacks Red Hat Enterprise Linux support.
Red Hat released it Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 on 1th August 2017. Of course, as I had mentioned, since then I have been waiting (and probably all friends of the distro) for the upcoming CentOS 'Release Point', meaning the major release of a distribution (in this case CentOS Linux 7) to update 4 from source Red Hat code.
Today it seems the day I expected:
The CentOS repositories contain all the updated packages for version 7.4.1708 as well as the official ISOs pictures to fully install the distribution.
For those who know CentOS, the release of each new release is a big event due to the slow development cycle adopted by the Project.
Below you can download the ISO you are interested in from the server of the University of Crete. Those who have already installed CentOS and just want to upgrade to the next version can run the command:
