CES 2021 only digitally without physical presence

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) he said that CES 2021 will not take place in person but online.

So the annual technology show, which typically attracts thousands of attendees to Las Vegas every January, will take place in an almost virtual form amid continuing uncertainty with Covid-19.

The decision marks a major turning point for the CTA, which until a week ago insisted that the event would take place as we knew it. Today, however, CTA CEO Gary Shapiro, along with his concerns, said that the physical presence of the exhibition is impossible.

“Amidst the pandemic and growing global health concerns with the spread of COVID-19, it is not possible to convene with tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January 2021,” Shapiro said. .

"Technology helps us all work, learn and connect during the pandemic. It will also help us redefine CES 2021 and bring the technology community closer together in a meaningful way. By switching to a digital platform for 2021, we can offer a unique experience that will help our exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences. ”

Covid-19 has stopped major annual events in the tech industry so far. Dozens of tech companies have been forced to change their event plans, switch to digital formats or cancel them.

Looking ahead, CTA says CES 2021 will be an exciting new experience where attendees can sign up for personalized comand well-known or start-up companies will be able to present their products through live demonstrations.

CES is expected to return to the format we knew in 2022.
