The largest exhibition of consumer technology products in the world, CES 2024, has opened its doors from January 9-12, 2024 in Las Vegas, and among the thousands of products presented, some manage to win the spotlight thanks to their impressive capabilities.

On Sunday night, Samsung unveiled the world's first transparent MicroLED display. While there's still no word on when this technology will make its way to retail devices, Samsung showcased its transparent MicroLED display side-by-side with transparent OLED and transparent LCD models to really highlight the differences between the technology.

Compared to the others, not only was the MicroLED panel significantly brighter, but it also featured a completely bezel-less design and a more transparent glass panel that made it easier to see objects behind it.

The feeling is a bit strange, especially if the image is part of the whole screen, as the content almost looks like a hologram floating in the air. The demo screen was about a centimeter thick, which further adds to the illusion of a floating screen. In addition, due to the high pixel density of micro LEDs, images look incredibly sharp.

According to a Samsung representative, because transparent MicroLED displays have a higher brightness compared to transparent OLED displays, they are also less affected by ambient light.

The bad news is that the starting price of Samsung's opaque MicroLED TVs is currently $150.000 for a 110-inch model, so it will be a long time before these new displays become affordable.

Coincidentally, Samsung's eternal rival LG also debuted its OLED T, which, unlike Samsung's model, will be released this year. OLED T is the first wireless transparent OLED TV, with 4K resolution and LG's wireless transmission technology for audio and video.

The OLED T also has a contrast screen that rolls down into a box on its base that you can raise or lower with the push of a button.
