Check your remote control batteries through a smartphone

If you have any doubts as to whether the batteries of a remote control are still active, you can check them through your smartphone.

Have you ever wondered about your TV remote control batteries when it does not change channels? or when it starts to have slow response times. Or for any other remote control that might not work well? You can easily verify the reliability of their batteries if you have a simple smartphone. Let's see how.

This is an unknown but very good trick that you can use to find out if your remote control batteries are one stage before they are completely dead. And this trick is hidden inside the camera of your smartphone. So do the following:

1. Open it smartphone camera τηλεφώνου σας και φροντίστε να "τραβάει" από την μπροστινή πλευρά, από αυτήν δηλαδή που συνήθως βγάζετε selfie φωτογραφίες.

2. Position your faulty remote control facing the camera so that you can see the LED sending the commands on your mobile screen.
Here we want to inform you that this trick only applies to remote controls that operate with infrared (IR) radiation and not to those that operate with ultrasound. Ultrasonic remote controls now tend to disappear and logically in you have only me .

3. Tap any one on your remote control by looking through the screen of your mobile phone at the led of the remote control. Prefer a button that continuously and repeatedly sends a command, such as changing the channel, or increasing or decreasing the volume, etc. If your remote control is working correctly, you should see a light coming from the led and flashing on the screen of your mobile . If you don't see the light or if the light is very dim, it means you may need to replace the batteries in your remote control.

4. Replace the batteries with new ones, and if the light still does not turn on, then the problem is with the remote control, so you may need to replace it.

This trick doesn't just work with a smartphone camera. It can also work well with any other digital camera. So if you have a laptop (), try using the built-in webcam. The sensors of all digital cameras can capture infrared radiation, whether they are built into a smartphone, laptop, stand alone as a web cam, or as a simple digital camera.

Note: Keep in mind that some smartphone camera applications have built-in technologies that can block the display of infrared light. So a second trick, which is also reliable, is to operate your remote control near a medium wave (MW band) radio. Set the radio to not pick up any stations and through the band noise every time you press a button on your remote control, you will hear a buzz. This is an indication that your remote control is working and therefore does not need new batteries. Just make sure the remote control is too close to the radio antenna.

  1. Good trick and we definitely want to try it.
Obviously the best way to check a remote control is to see if the device that works with it obeys it.
