From the Internet Criminal Investigation Directorate, within a global online business, targeted multi-month searches were conducted on a P2P file sharing network to combat the phenomenon of child pornography over the Internet.
Two cases have been identified and an auto-trial case filed against two nationals, aged 41 and 44 years, for pornography of minors through the Internet
The Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office participated in a global business and conducted targeted multi-month searches on a P2P file sharing network to combat child pornography over the Internet.
In this context, the involvement of two Greek, 41 and 44 years in Rhodes and Cephalonia was identified, and a self-contained suit file was filed against them for violating P2P provisions on child pornography.
In particular, months of research and thorough digital analysis were conducted on a P2P file sharing network, for possession andmovement of child pornography material, during which electronic traces of internet users were found within the Greek territory, who possessed and had at their disposal a number of files of sexual abuse of minors (audio-visual material - video).
The Prosecutor's Office of Athens Court of First Instance, which issued a notice to remove the confidentiality of communications, was briefed, and the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office conducted in-depth police and digital research and analysis of the data and data of the case.
The analysis of the disputed electronic traces resulted in an identification with two (2) connections internet, which corresponded to the two (2) nationals arrested.
Then, police stations of the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office went to the homes of Rhodes and Cephalonia yesterday (24-09-2015) yesterday and conducted lawful investigations. From the on-the-spot check, the involvement of both offenders was identified, while hundreds of records (videos and pictures) of child pornography material were found in their electronic media.
During the investigations, digital evidence was found and seized, and in particular, two (2) laptops and one (1) external tough computer disk.
The seizures will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for their further laboratory investigations.
The two (2) arrested, with their filed case files, will be brought to the appropriate Prosecuting Authorities. Any involvement of other Greek users is being investigated.
