It may seem a little strange to some, but the HBO (Home Box Office), which has created the TV series on Game of Thrones TV, has patented a boxing gog sensor system that shows real-time punch speed.
The technology behind its patent HBO, called PunchForce, shows how fast and powerful a punch moves, while a sensor mounted on the boxing glove and the body of a boxer could tell in real time the power with which a punch strikes the opponent.
This is not the first time similar technology with power sensor has been used in sports. Corresponding gadgets we've seen in baseball and tennis which usually have some sensors to measure the speed at which they could hit a ball.
In accordance with VentureBeat, the patent describes the technology as having a gyroscope and an accelerometer integrated in the front of the boxing glove.
When the glove is used, a database with multiple motion profiles of the previous fists is used to compare the present fist with the past so that the athlete can monitor his progress more accurately.
But why was the HBO television network interested in and patented this technology? We think it's pretty obvious to use in live NFL races.
