The CIA climbs into the Amazon cloud

According to a publication by Defense OneThe Amazon Web Services took over and implemented a private cloud just for the CIA. A $600 million contract that named Amazon Web Services the winner is the motivation of a private Cloud that will house 17 US intelligence agencies.

While neither the CIA nor Amazon has officially announced the launch of the Cloud or confirmed the news, Defense One reports that it has reliable from anonymous sources. Moreover, the event coincides with the CIA's public announcement, which had stated that it would be transferred to the Cloud from the summer of 2014.

It should be noted that all Cloud is behind the information service firewall and not Amazon. While using the technologies developed for Amazon's public cloud infrastructures, the services are protected by firewall and private.

The fact proves the close relationship between large technology companies and government agencies. There is no cause for concern for this news, as it is news. The worrying are the under-table deals, and they never reach the media. Or if they arrive it's too late, see Snowden.
