Its GoToMyPC service Citrix, issued a warning notice to all its users, stating that it has been targeted by a “highly sophisticated attackof passwords.” The company advises all its users to change the passwords they have been using.
The statement was made on its website, and Citrix, which owns the remote connection service, said that all users should reset their GoToMyPC passwords to be able to re-connect. It urges all users to use two-factor authentication.
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this issue may cause," Citrix said.
The company has not been able to confirm the number of passwords that it believes are stolen or what other information hackers may have received, and according to the announcement it is still investigating the hack.
The hack on the GoToMyPC service came after the attack on TeamViewer, which offers a similar one product.
TeamViewer had stated that its systems were not breached, while there were reports from users that their PCs were attacked. Thus they discovered that various had taken place markets through their PCs, from designer clothes to gift cards.
