Completed the translation of the fourth edition of the licenses Creative Commons 4.0 in Greek language, which was made with the collaboration of the Cypriot and Greek Creative Commons groups.
Creative Commons licenses are a set of standard copyright licenses that allow authors to distribute their work freely to the public. These licenses vary and the creator has the ability to choose the one that best suits his needs.
Creators of all kinds, academics, researchers, educators, artists, bloggers, public organizations, libraries, archives, museums, government and private entities use Creative Commons licenses to distribute their work online free, under the terms they understand and deem appropriate, while being assured that their users will respect the terms of the license and be bound by it.
Creative Commons licenses were incorporated into Greek law by 2007 from a working group whose scientific supervision was held by the then president of the Intellectual Property Organization, Professor of the University of Athens, Dionysia Kallinikou. The translation of the 4.0 edition of Creative Commons licenses into Greek is expected to be a valuable tool for disseminating scientific, literary and artistic creation in Greece and Cyprus.
Volunteer local team leaders in each of the national jurisdictions for which Creative Commons licenses have already been adapted work to promote the goals of Creative Commons. Creative Commons International and volunteer local group leaders are independent and separate entities, yet they work together and contribute equally to promote adoption of the licenses and tools offered by Creative Commons.
