After first announcement from iGuRu.gr (08 June 2015) to display a new wave of malicious publications on Facebook's largest social network, the Electronic Crime Prosecution today issued a warning notice.
Informing the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office to the public about the spread of malware through the Facebook social networking site
The Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office is informing the public about the re-propagation of malware (Backdoor Trojan), which had reappeared in the past and is spreading with pornographic video posting on the Facebook social networking site.
Specifically, as in the past, the post in question appears to have been shared by a "friend" of the user on the social networking website "Facebook" and to have been tagged in it by a number of his "friends". If the user clicks on the link in the post, they are taken to a fake web page where the first few seconds of the video play and then stop playing, displaying a message informing the user that they are required to "download" an Adobe software upgrade Flash Player (InstallFlashPlayer.exe).
If the user consents and "downloads" the file, then they are infected by the malicious software (Backdoor Trojan), το οποίο έχει τη δυνατότητα να «παρακολουθεί» το πληκτρολόγιο και το «ποντίκι» του μολυσμένου υπολογιστή, με αποτέλεσμα να μπορούν να υποκλαπούν κωδικοί και επικοινωνίες πάσης φύσεως (κωδικοί e-banking, αριθμοί πιστωτικών καρτών, κωδικοί access e-mail etc.).
Additionally, malicious software can post the user's "Facebook" account automatically after uploading and infecting the computer, while at the same time tagging his friends for further self-destruction. In this way, malware spreads through the Facebook platform, infecting a large number of computers.
It is noted that this is a newer one version of the previous virus with the main characteristic of its faster spread.
Internet users are urged to be very careful and take the following minimum protection measures:
-
Do not keep on hanging up with odd content or posts that do not appear to lead to a known website.
-
From the settings security of "Facebook", to activate the option in which someone will not be able to tag them, without their approval.
-
Use security applications, such as Antivirus software, which should always be up to date.
-
Verify and keep up-to-date the version of your computer's operating system.
