A dramatic increase in allegations of child pornography offenses in Cyprus

Thirty complaints about offenses child pornography have been submitted to the Police in 2014, while in the whole of last year there were 23, informed theCyprus Police Press Officer, Andreas Angelidis, referring to the latest complaint by a 14-year-old girl.

Regarding the case of the 14-year-old, Mr. Angelidis said that according to what she reported, she had met a person through the social networking page and communicated with him.

As it was established, this person had created a Facebook account with which did not correspond to reality.

According to 14, he had threatened her and had sent him ten photos.

Police investigations showed that the Facebook account was running a 17 man who was arrested while two laptop computers were confiscated, from which there appeared to be a number of photos, particularly minor girls, of the preliminary examinations.

Regarding the questioning of the 17-year-old, Angelidis pointed out that he has appeared in court and an arrest warrant has been secured, noting that from the investigations that followed and as the arrested person also testified, the specific account is also managed by another person, his friend from .

He said that Interpol Greece will be informed about the issue and noted that the two computers will be directly promoted for investigations, so that the Police can see through a detailed examination the number of photographs that exist, since at first sight they appear to be in these photos of underage girls.
