AlphaBay, was an online market that illegally sold Dark Web products. The page appears to be offline after arrests took place in three countries.
The attacks took place in the US, Canada and Thailand on July 5, and on the same day AlphaBay's website on Dark Web was mysterious.
The authorities refused to comment on the matter, but the Wall Street Journal claims that an internal source has confirmed that AlphaBay was closed after law enforcement intervened.
Two police raids seem to have taken place in residences in Trois-Rivières, Canada, and another raid on a business address in Montreal. No arrests were made, but equipment was seized.
The last police raid occurred in Thailand, where a Canadian citizen named Alexander Cazes was allegedly arrested. 26 was captured in their private homes in Bangkok. The police seized three houses and four Lamborghini cars worth about 400 million baht, which are 11,8 million dollars.
Local authorities detained Cazes after an international arrest warrant in the US was issued for drug trafficking.

On July 12, Cazes was hanging with a towel in his cell, according to him Press of Thailand.
It is not yet clear whether Cazes was one of the AlphaBay staff or was a salesperson on the site. The unconfirmed rumors that began with Reddit and smaller blogs claim that Cazes was the manager of AlphaBay, also known as DeSnake.

The AlphaBay Drug Market was launched in December of 2014 and began to grow when another major drug market of the Dark Web market was closed Evolution.
Until October of 2015, AlphaBay had over 200.000 users and its market continued to grow at a steady pace as the TheRealDeal market mysteriously disappeared in the summer of 2016. At the time of the drug market's disappearance, AlphaBay had over 400.000 users.
Meanwhile, former AlphaBay vendors and users started to flush to other Dark Web markets. According to DeepDotWeb, a Dark Web site, the three most popular Dark Web markets after the closing of AlphaBay are: RAMP (Russian), Dream Market and Hansa Market.
