Darkcoin: Bitcoin's Dark Cousin

The "dark" alternative to the now famous internet saw a tenfold increase in its value within a month Bitcoin, Darkcoin, rising from 75 cents to seven dollars.

On the occasion of this "explosion", Wired hosts an article about this "cousin" of Bitcoin, which is promoted as an online trading medium that provides much greater anonymity than Bitcoin, "shuffling" users' transactions so so that it is very difficult to determine the recipient of a payment.

As reported in the publication, it seems that the promise of further anonymity has brought a "mini flourishing" into this online currency, which is seen as one of the fastest growing cryptocurrencies currently in the "post-Bitcoin" era. The total value of Darkcoins in circulation is estimated at 30 for approximately $ million.

Darkcoin was launched by 32-year-old Evan Duffield, developer in Arizona in January. Its proponents state that the "dark currency" serves an existing and need for anonymity, as the Bitcoin network cannot guarantee this since transactions can be observed in the publicly available record known as the 'blockchain'. This forces users who want to hide their transactions to use special "washing" methods.

Darkcoin adds an extra level of anonymity by automatically combining each transaction made by a user with the other two (a feature called Darksend) so that whoever analyzes the corresponding blockchain finds it hard to pinpoint where the money ends.

Although, according to the publication, its unusually rapid growth may be fueled by observers hoping for a new "gold mine", the increase in ς του ενδεχομένως να είναι ένδειξη ότι το Darkcoin θα έχει διάρκεια.

Of course, the easiest explanation for his success is clearly more "dark", as Darkcoin is likely to become extremely popular in the "black market": the extra anonymity that makes it obviously appealing to websites such as the notorious "Silk Road" which Bitcoin was the most appropriate means of trading.
