The Office of Tailored Access OperationsOr TAO, described as a "team of digital plumbers" or in English "squad of digital plumbers" who deal with high profile targets and generally systems that are not easy to penetrate. The TAO team is responsible for accessing the protected networks of Heads of State around the world, working with the CIA, the FBI, and undertaking "sensitive missions." The TAO team deliberately halts deliveries of hardware to plant spyware that gives them remote access to systems once they are delivered and installed.
According to the publication, the NSA has planted backdoors and has access to computers, hard drives, routers and other devices in Companies like the CiscoThe DellThe Western DigitalThe SeagateThe MaxtorThe Samsung and Huawei.
Η δημοσίευση συμπεριλαμβάνει ένα κατάλογο προϊόντων 50 σελίδων με εργαλεία και τεχνικές που uses a division of the NSA called the ANT, or Technology Network Access, and specializes in violating devices in any way.
“For each lock, the ANT section appears to have a key in its toolbox. And no matter what protection the companies use, NSA experts don't seem to stop. " the publication says.
The ANT section prefers to click through the BIOS by encoding a chip on the motherboard running when the machine starts. Penetration with such spyware is largely invisible by security programs and can continue even to form and install a new operating system.
With the exception of Dell, the companies mentioned above contacted the company Der Spiegel and claimed they did not know that the NSA had planted backdoors on their equipment.
