Μετά την Google, η οποία επισήμως εγκατέλειψε τα Windows XP με την πιο πρόσφατη έκδοση του προγράμματος περιήγησης Chrome, η Dropbox κάνει το ίδιο και ανακοινώνει ότι, αρχής γενομένης από τις 26 Ιουνίου η desktop application will no longer work on the 15-year-old operating system.
The program that supports Windows XP will be removed from dropbox resulting in a Windows XP user being unable to link to his or her old account or open a new account.
“On August 29, 2016, the Dropbox desktop application will no longer support Windows XP. After this date you will automatically be signed out of your Dropbox account if you are on a computer running Windows XP. You will be able to sign in again once you update your operating system to Windows Vista or later” explains Dröpbox.
The company says the only option Windows XP customers have to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, such as Vista, 7, 8, or 10. Their files will not be affected and will remain secured in the cloud.
An alternative for those who have stuck with Windows XP and do not want to change them is to access their accounts via drppbox.com through a browser or mobile device.
Figures so far show that Windows XP is still running on about 10% of all computers worldwide today. This share is constantly decreasing as more companies remove it support their.
