H Address : Prosecution of Electronic Crime informs citizens of possible fraud through email account violations ( e-mails ) to capture (phishing) their personal data and contact list.
The perpetrators initially violate e-mail accounts by e-phishing ( Phishing ), gaining access to their contact list,
They then send bulk emails messages
From the Greek Police's Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, it is announced that a lot of e-mails have been detected lately, with phishing techniques.
Initially, the perpetrators are requesting e-mails on the internet to verify their account details on a suggested link. In this way, they violate the accounts and catch-access their stored personal data and their contact list.
Subsequently, the perpetrators, through the hacked accounts, send mass electronic messages to the contact list (contact list) and subtwoare victims who ask for money under various pretexts (e.g. "I'm abroad, I lost my wallet and I need money to return", "my wallet and mobile and I have no money at all", "I am far from home and I urgently need money", etc.). In this way, they are designed to deceive users-recipients and obtain undue financial gain.
On the basis of these incidents, the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office urges citizens to be particularly careful and to take increased protection and digital security measures for e-mail accounts kept on the Internet.
In particular it is recommended:
-
Avoid storing sensitive personal and financial data in your email accounts, especially to avoid storing data that contains account numbers such as photocopies, passwords, etc.
-
Type URLs in the browser instead of using hyperlinks when checking e-mail resources.
-
Watch out for another form of fraud that looks like "fishing" (phishing) and is called "pharming" and which redirects users from legitimate web sites to imitations, with the aim of stealing personal information.
-
Do not send by e-mail the username and password of any digital service they use.
-
Set alerts for every attempt to change or reset the password. These come in another e-mail or SMS on the mobile.
