The e-commerce service eBay released a quite worrying one a note stating that its servers have been compromised and its user data has leaked. It even encourages all who use its services to change their passwords directly.
The announcement came a few minutes ago, and eBay says it will ask users of the service via email post officeυ “να αλλάξουν τους κωδικούς πρόσβασης, λόγω μια κυβερνοεπίθεσης που φαίνεται να είχε σαν αποτέλεσμα την theft a base data containing encrypted passwords and other non-financial information.”
Users should change their passwords now and if they don't know how the system works, they should wait for message email from eBay that will guide them with the necessary instructions. Our advice is to change your password as soon as possible.
EBay revealed in a press release that the scammers managed to obtain employee credentials between late February and early March. They were able to gain unauthorized access to eBay's corporate network, but also to a database containing "eBay customer name, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing address, phone number and date of birth."
"However, the database does not contain financial information or other confidential personal information," explains eBay.
