Users using the Silverlight of Microsoft is advised to immediately update their software to the latest version, as security companies are noticing an increase in the number of attacks performing exploit in old vulnerabilities.
Cisco issued an alert this week stating that Angler, an exploit kit has been updated with exploits for Silverlight vulnerabilities, and is being used in a new wave of attacks.
According to her researcher Levi Gundert Cisco Information Security, Angler relies on a malicious tactic called malvertising and serves malicious code that is injected into ads that appear on legitimate websites.
As the researcher says, only the older versions of Silverlight are vulnerable, so you'll need to upgrade to the latest version immediately to be absolutely safe.
Security firm Trustwave also confirmed that attacks using the vulnerabilities of Silverlight have increased recently.
The latest version of Silverlight is 5.1.30214.0 and was released by Microsoft on 11 March in the framework of Tuesday's Patch.
We recommend that you update this new version as soon as possible.
