Edge started displaying ads in the settings

Microsoft is working hard with Edge to ensure that you have a great web browsing experience.

Edge strives to protect your privacy, block annoying notifications, offer auto-play controls, and remove intrusive ads.

The company started displaying a fairly large banner in the Edge profile settings section. This banner encourages users to try out the new sync features and download the mobile Edge app using a QR code. There is one more instruction on how to scan the QR code using your smartphone.

It's worth mentioning that Mobile Edge already has a separate promotion section on the desktop .

However, it seems that Microsoft thinks that this is not enough, so it added an additional banner to the Profile page.

This move can be added to Microsoft's recent efforts to promote its services to 10. There are ads for Edge service in Search, Bing Search, Start Menu, Desktop and in Settings UI. The company also promotes with ads on Microsoft 365 subscriptions using a banner on , but also Outlook mobile in Windows Mail.

It seems that ads in Microsoft Edge have been rolled out gradually. The new banners do not appear on some computers, but they are already there. We see them in the Stable and Dev versions of the browser, but not in the versions from Canary. However, other users report seeing banners in Edge Canary as well.
